Study Abroad???

Hi There! Today I’ll talk about my own experience. I’ve studied abroad bunch of times. When people ask me “Why should I study in another country???” I always tell them that there are several reasons to venture yourself, not only the pleasure of learning and speaking another language.

Here are some:

1)      Meet different people and learn about their countries: Talking to people from all over the world is awesome! Each culture has its own peculiarities.

2)      Open your mind: You start seeing things with another perspective. You observe more and become more open to the “new”.

3)       Become more independent: In general, people have no one to share their daily life, except new friends. Making decisions by yourself is worthwhile!

4)      Increase you networking: when travelling abroad, you should consider every single person as an opportunity. You can’t rule out the possibility of having a future contact to work or to make business with them.

5)      Try, try and try! It could be…try to speak more, to learn more, to get along with others more, to do different, …

6)      Last but not least, DON’T be afraid to communicate!!!

In general, listening comprehension is a pain in the neck for many students.

My tip for today is www.elllo.org

In this website, you can you can improve your listening skills by choosing:

  • topic
  • level (beginner-advanced)
  • country (different accents)

You should try listening without the transcript. Just choose audio transcript (-).

You can also try different media, for example, videos, news, games…

Vocabulary:
* pain in the neck: something or someone that is annoying or difficult to deal with.

It's never too late to learn a second language. All it takes...
I'd like to start this blog with an inspiring text.

" The longer I live the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedeness, or skill. It will make or break a company...a church...a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past...we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and this our attitude...I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you...we are in charge of our ATTITUDES."
